Phosphate glass is a glass with phosphorus pentoxide as the main component. It is interconnected by (PO4)3-tetrahedra to form a network, and has the characteristics of ultraviolet light transmission and low dispersion, but its chemical stability is poor, and the corrosion of refractory crucibles is very large during melting.

Phosphate glass is the most widely used laser glass medium due to its moderate phonon energy, high solubility for rare earth ions, good spectral properties of rare earth ions in it, and small nonlinear coefficient.
1. Phosphate glass can be used as low dispersion optical glass or other special glass.
2. The application fields of phosphate glass cover laser fusion, laser weapons, laser ranging, optical communication waveguide amplifiers, and ultra-short pulse laser applications.
