Wired glass is a product in which a wire mesh is inserted during the production process. It has similar impact resistance as regular glass, but in the event of breakage, the mesh retains glass fragments. This product has traditionally been considered a low-cost fireproof glass. The wire mesh is sandwiched between two separate ribbons of semi-molten glass.
